Works as advertised, but a few notes... July 31, 2010 S. Pandya (Ithaca, NY) The price at Amazon makes it a no-brainer purchase to go along with your Maglite. I've installed three of these around the house. After six months of active use, I have not observed any signs of cracking or yielding in the plastic.
A few reviewers have mentioned that they have managed to break a few of these, and this might be caused by improper installation. It is imperative that, when using two clips for a flashlight, that they are perfectly aligned. If they are out of line by even a few millimeters they will require much more force to place and remove the flashlight. Alternatively, using just one clip for at least the 3 cell lights seems to work just fine as well.
Overall, I am satisfied with this product and consider it to be a good value at the advertised price.
CHEAP PLASTIC CRAP June 2, 2010 K. P. Bunting (Fort Knox) IF YOU THINK YOU'RE GETTING THE SPRING STEEL CLIPS WITH RUBBER COATING, THINK AGAIN. THESE THINGS ARE SHINY BLACK BRITTLE LOOKING PLASTIC!
Handy product April 22, 2010 Ferd Werffle (Canada) These were a replacement for a set I had bought years ago and one had broken.
I really like these brackets as they allow me to keep my Mag lite flashlight in a conspicuous spot and allow easy removal when needed.
My only concern is that they do break after a couple of years. I'd like to see a softer more flexible plastic used in their construction, thus ensuring a longer lasting product.
Of course with the reasonable price I feel they are still a good buy.
Great Value! March 11, 2010 J. Vandiver (Texas) Then instructions for this product tell you to mount both clamps for one flashlight. Unless you use the flashlight all the time you only need to mount one. I have mounted 4 flashlights in stragitic areas in the house. We have had two power outages since and my wife loves the fact that she knows exactly where the flaslights are! Very easy to mount.
Functional December 4, 2009 Edward (Richmond, VA) The contact is tight and I can see how the bracket would break over time.. For me however, the flash lights are being stored in a cupboard and only used in emergencies. I have only needed to remove the light twice and both times I was careful taking it out and back in.
I am not sure I would recommend these for everyday use.
Also, I only used 1 clip per light. It is sturdy enough that you do not need both.
For me, they were perfect for my requirements.
